Privacy policy

Effective September 22, 2026. What NVR.news collects, what it does with it, and how to say no. Written to be read in one sitting: there are no reader accounts here, so most of what a policy usually covers does not apply.

1. Scope

This policy covers nvr.news, the news title published by SNVRKOTICS LLC (“we”, “us”). It applies to the pages at nvr.news, to the feed and sitemap served from that address, and to the tip line. It does not cover the other services we operate, which each carry their own policy: the SNVRKOTICS app, nvr.to, SNVRK IMAGES, notebook.exchange and the sync storefront are covered at https://snvrkotics.com/privacy.

It also does not cover the sites we link to, or Google’s own handling of what its advertising system collects, which is governed by Google’s privacy policy and described in section 3.

We are a Delaware limited liability company at 8 The Green, Ste A, Dover, DE 19901. For readers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, we are the controller of the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

There are no reader accounts on this title. You do not register, subscribe or pay to read it, so we hold no account, no password and no payment details for any reader. What we do collect falls into three groups.

Information you give us.

  • Through the tip line: the subject and body of your tip, an evidence link if you add one, and, only if you choose to give them, a name and a way to contact you. A tip can be sent with none of those. The form records nothing about your device: no IP address, no browser details, no hash.
  • When you email the editor, the press address or the legal address: what you write, and the address you write from.
  • When you pitch a story from a SNVRKOTICS account: the name of the workspace the pitch came from, so the editor knows who is asking.

Information collected automatically.

  • Server logs at our hosting provider: the address a request came from, the page requested, the time, the referring page and the browser’s user-agent string. These are kept for a short period to keep the site running and to detect abuse, and are not joined to anything you have told us.
  • Your answer to the cookie notice, stored in your own browser’s local storage under one key, so we can respect it on your next visit without asking again. It never leaves your browser.
  • If you choose Accept in the cookie notice, a page-view analytics script runs and records which pages were read, from which country and on what kind of device. It does not run before you answer, and it does not run if you choose Essential only.
  • Google’s advertising cookies and identifiers, once its script loads, as described in section 3.

Information from others.

  • Google reports to us how the advertising on the title performed: impressions, clicks and earnings, in aggregate. Nothing in those reports identifies a reader to us.
  • Public records, filings and published sources that reporting draws on. That is journalism rather than data collection about readers, and it is governed by our editorial standards.

3. How it is used and who it is shared with

We use what we collect to.

  • publish the title and keep it available, fast and secure;
  • read, verify and, where you have said we may, follow up on a tip;
  • fund the title through advertising;
  • understand which stories are read, if you have accepted analytics;
  • detect fraud, abuse and attacks on the site;
  • comply with the law, respond to lawful process, and defend our rights and those of our readers and sources.

Advertising. The title is funded by advertising served by Google through its AdSense program. When a page loads, Google’s script may set and read cookies on your device and receive your IP address, the page you are reading and technical details of your browser. Google uses that to serve ads, to cap how often you see the same one, to measure whether ads were seen, and to detect fraud. Until you answer the cookie notice, and whenever you choose Essential only, we ask Google for non-personalized ads, which are chosen from the page rather than from a profile of you; Google still uses cookies for capping, measurement and fraud detection in that mode. Only if you choose Accept may Google personalize the ads using its own data about you across the sites that use its services. That is the one thing on this title that California law calls “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, and section 5 says how to say no or take it back.

Service providers. The site runs on Vercel (hosting and logs), stores tips in a database at Supabase, and sends the editor a copy of each tip through Resend, an email service. Each processes data on our instructions and under contract. Google acts as an independent controller for what its advertising system collects, under its own policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not sell personal information about readers, and have not in the preceding twelve months. We do not give Google, or any advertiser, your name, your contact details or anything you have sent the tip line. Advertisers have no access to the tip line and no say in what runs.

Legal process and protection. We disclose information when the law requires it, in response to a subpoena or court order we believe to be valid, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of a person or the integrity of the title. Where a request concerns a source, we contest it to the extent the law allows, consistent with our published standards on the protection of sources.

A change of ownership. If the title, or the company that publishes it, is sold or merged, the information described here may pass to the new owner under this policy or one at least as protective.

4. Security

Every page is served over an encrypted connection. Tips are stored in a database that only the editor’s service account can read; there is no reader-facing interface to them. Access to the hosting, database and email accounts is limited to the people who run the title and protected by multi-factor authentication.

No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure. If you are sending something sensitive, say so in the tip and the editor will move the conversation to a channel you are comfortable with before asking for more.

5. Your choices and access

The cookie notice. Essential only keeps advertising non-personalized and keeps analytics off. Accept turns both on. You can change your answer at any time from the cookie policy link in the footer, and the change takes effect on the ads already on the page.

Do not sell or share my personal information. We do not sell. The only sharing, as California defines it, is personalized advertising after you choose Accept. Choosing Essential only, or never choosing Accept, is the opt-out, and the footer link with this wording brings you to this section for that reason. We also honor the Global Privacy Control: when your browser sends that signal, we ask Google for non-personalized ads regardless of any stored choice.

Google’s own controls apply as well, whatever you told us.

  • Google’s ad settings at adssettings.google.com let you switch personalized advertising off for your Google account and your browser.
  • How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
  • In the United States, the Digital Advertising Alliance’s choice page at optout.aboutads.info, and the Network Advertising Initiative’s at optout.networkadvertising.org, cover Google and other members. In the EEA and the United Kingdom, youronlinechoices.eu does the same.

The tip line. If you gave a name or contact with a tip and want it removed, or want to know what we hold from you, write to legalteam@snvrkotics.com from the address you gave, or quote the subject of the tip. We answer within thirty days. We may keep a tip’s substance where it is part of published reporting or where the law requires us to, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Do Not Track. Browsers can send a Do Not Track header, and there is no agreed standard for what it means, so we do not act on it. The Global Privacy Control signal, which does have a defined meaning, is honored as described above.

6. Other information

Children. The title is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has sent us something through the tip line, write to the legal address and we will delete it.

Retention. Server logs are kept for no longer than thirty days. A tip is kept while the story it concerns could still be reported, and the contact details attached to it are deleted on request as set out in section 5. Aggregate advertising reports carry no reader data and are kept as business records.

Where the data is. The title is hosted and its data stored in the United States. If you read it from elsewhere, what is described here is transferred to and processed in the United States, where the law may differ from your country’s.

Other sites. Stories link to sources, and the footer links to the other services the publisher operates. Each has its own policy and we are not responsible for theirs.

Changes. When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it and the previous version is available from the legal address. A change that would let us use what we already hold in a materially different way is announced on the title before it takes effect.

7. Contact

Questions, requests and complaints about this policy go to legalteam@snvrkotics.com, or by post to SNVRKOTICS LLC, 8 The Green, Ste A, Dover, DE 19901. Say “nvr.news privacy” in the subject so it reaches the right person. If you are in the UK or the EEA and are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the supervisory authority where you live.

8. Notice for California residents

This section adds what the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, requires, and applies to readers who live in California. It uses the law’s categories; the plain description of what those mean on this title is in section 2.

We do not sell personal information. We share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising only in the one case described in section 3: personalized advertising through Google after you choose Accept. We have no actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen.

Your rights under California law.

  • To know what personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties it was disclosed to.
  • To have it deleted, subject to the exceptions the law allows, including for reporting that has been published.
  • To have inaccurate personal information corrected.
  • To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. On this title that is the Essential only choice in the cookie notice, or a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, both described in section 5.
  • To limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use it for anything beyond reading a tip, so there is nothing further to limit.
  • Not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights. The title reads the same whichever choice you make.

To exercise a right, write to legalteam@snvrkotics.com with “California request” in the subject, or send the request by post to the address in section 7. Because there are no accounts, we verify a request by matching the address you write from against the contact detail on the tip, or by asking for the subject and date of what you sent. An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf with your signed permission, and we may still ask you to confirm it. We respond within forty-five days, and tell you if we need forty-five more.

Shine the Light. California Civil Code section 1798.83 lets residents ask which personal information a business disclosed to third parties for their own direct marketing. We disclose none for that purpose, so the answer to such a request is that there is nothing to report.

9. Residents of other US states with privacy laws

Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Rhode Island have consumer privacy laws that give residents rights over their personal data. Where one of them applies to you, this section describes how to use those rights on this title. Several of those laws apply only to businesses above a threshold of residents or revenue that this title may not meet; we honor the requests regardless.

You may.

  • confirm whether we process your personal data and get a copy of it;
  • have inaccuracies corrected;
  • have it deleted, subject to the exceptions each law allows for journalism and legal obligations;
  • opt out of targeted advertising, which on this title is the Essential only choice in the cookie notice or a Global Privacy Control signal, as in section 5. We do not sell personal data and do not profile readers in a way that produces legal or similarly significant effects, so there is nothing further to opt out of.

Send a request to legalteam@snvrkotics.com with your state in the subject line. We verify it as described in section 8 and answer within forty-five days, extending once by forty-five more if a request is complex, and we tell you if we do. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our answer with “appeal” in the subject; a different person reviews it and answers within forty-five days with the reasons, and, if the appeal is denied, with how to reach your state’s attorney general.
